About the film

Every spring, women from inland provinces travel to the tea hills of Yixing for a few weeks of picking. The film follows one harvest from the frying lesson to the last weigh-in of the day: how the leaf is graded and paid for, what a pay ticket looks like, who brings the pickers in, where they sleep, and what they say about it when the camera is still running.

It was made by a student team as a nonprofit project, and is the film behind this campaign. The research for the white paper and the five demands grew out of the same fieldwork.
